FISKDALE, Mass. — Senior Tyler Briggs turned in a gutty performance on the mound, and freshman Thaylan Harrison hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth to lead the Drury High School baseball team to a 7-6 win over Tantasqua on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Devils took both ends of a Patriots Day double-header, knocking off Monson, 6-2, in the first game before beating the hosts in the nightcap.

Briggs gave up one earned run in five innings before giving way to relievers Jake Tatro and Schuyler Robinson.

In the bottom of the ninth, Harrison drove in Tatro for the win.

"Thaylon really graduated to the next level today," Drury coach Patrick Boulger said. "He had a tough two-strike count, battled through and did not try to do too much with the pitch and lifted it into left center for the game-winner.

"It is a credit to him to accept the role that we asked him to play today and in the future, and it paid off for us because of his and others' willingness to do what needs to be done for the betterment of the program."

Boulger said the Blue Devils (4-1) got timely hitting and solid defense all day long in the win.

"Overall a great day for Drury baseball, to go down there and walk away with two nice wins brings our confidence back and makes us continue to believe in what we are doing," he said. "I am very proud of these young men however we will only enjoy this for a short period of time and get back to work to go forward."

Drury hosts Lenox on Tuesday.
