NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The McCann Tech baseball team defeated Franklin Tech Wednesday afternoon, 12-4, earning the Hornets their 10th win of the season and a spot in the Western Massachusetts Tournament.

Franklin Tech got on the board in the top of the first inning, but in the bottom of the second McCann's Ethan Heller hit a single to bring home Collin Racette and tie it, 1-1. Sean Davis then followed with an RBI single to bring home Heller giving the Hornets a 2-1 lead.

McCann then plated four in the third taking a 6-1 lead.

"Our hits are back, yesterday's practice helped us a lot," McCann coach Pat Ryan said. "We came out today swinging and we have a lot of confidence right now."

The Hornets confidence was key Wednesday afternoon, as they scored two more in the fourth and three in the fifth with six straight batters getting hits.

And that confidence wasn't justcoming at the plate for McCann; Tim DeBlois pitched seven innings striking out seven; three of which came in a 1-2-3 inning in the fifth.

"Tim came out very strong today, he was confident every inning," Ryan said. "He definitely had his stuff today."

McCann plays Thursday afternoon at home against Pathfinder and coach Pat Ryan is hoping to keep the momentum rolling into with another home win.
