Mount Greylock Baseball Opens With Win

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Jake Benzinger and Brodie Altiere had three hits apiece to lead the Mount Greylock baseball team to a season-opening 12-3 win over Mount Everett on Monday.
 
Benzinger drove in four runs for the Mounties, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning and put the game away with a seven-run fifth.
 
Eric Hirsch had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the visitors.
 
Ian Bring struck out six in four innings of work to earn the win on the mound. Josh Jezouit also pitched for the Mounties.
 
Dan Litchfield pitched four innings for the Eagles (1-1), who got two RBIs from Bradley Lupiani.
 
Mount Greylock travels to Pittsfield on Wednesday. Mount Everett is home Wednesday against Sabis.
