WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock baseball team has put up some impressive offensive numbers this year, scoring double-digit runs in five of its first 11 games. The Mounties were upstaged for once on Monday, however, thanks to Pittsfield's Scott Blanchette.

Blanchette had a day to remember for the Generals on Monday, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs. His deadly bat helped his team score runs in four of the first six innings, giving Pittsfield a 7-3 win on the road. Justin Hopkins also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Generals, who improved to 5-7 with the win.

Greylock (7-4) was just a little off, making four errors in the field and only managing four hits from the plate. Pittsfield starter Tanner Hanford stayed out of trouble for most of his five innings of work, allowing just three runs, only which one was earned, in the bottom of the third inning. That tied the game for the Mounties, but the visitors came back strong by scoring one run in the top of the fifth before putting the game away with three more runs in the sixth.

Hanford struck out five and walked five to pick up the win. Senior Avery Cunningham took the loss for Greylock, allowing four earned runs on five hits in just over four innings of work. Junior Ben Coleman finished things up for the Mounties, allowing two earned runs on one hit with three walks in just under three innings of relief.

Senior Mike Munzer was the lone bright spot on offense for the the Mounties, hitting an RBI single in the third and reaching base two other times on walks. Greylock next plays at Lee at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
