MONSON, Mass. -- Josh Pettit made seven saves, including a couple of game-savers in the fourth quarter, as the McCann Tech boys lacrosse team defeated Monson, 7-5, on Wednesday

Jason Delisle and Justin Meczywor each scored two goals, and David Rancourt had a goal and an assist for the Hornets (3-5).

The key was controlling the fourth quarter to protect the 7-4 lead that McCann Tech earned through three periods.

“Our defense stepped up huge,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “Dakota Bolte and Brian Boudreau were big for us on ‘D’ today, as was our goalie, Josh Pettit.”

It was a far cry from McCann’s loss to Monson a year ago, Lange said.

“A year ago against them, we were winning at half-time and came out flat in the second half,” he said. “It was nice to maintain that half-time lead this time and get the win.”

McCann Tech hosts Lee on Friday.
