GRANBY, Mass. -- Darian Tovani scored five goals and set up another Friday to lead the McCann Tech boys lacrosse team to a 12-7 win over Granby.

The Hornets put the game away with a 5-2 third quarter after going into halftime ahead, 7-3.

“Granby played us tight in the first half, and capitalized on their man advantage opportunities and fast breaks,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “After that, we settled down defensively and took control on the offensive half of the field. Granby’s goalie was outstanding.”

Colby Ghidotti and Evan Knapp each scored a pair of goals, and Keegan Dellaghelfa and Rylie Fortini combined to make nine saves to earn the win in goal.

“The McCann midfield controlled a lot of the play, particularly Darius Tovani, [Jason] Delisle, Evan Knapp, and Martin-Levesque,” Lange said. :Keegan Dellaghelfa was solid in goal, and freshman Rylie Fortini played net in the fourth quarter and was tested a few times and came up with huge saves to seal the victory.”

McCann Tech (1-0) hosts Monson on Monday.
