DALTON, Mass. -- Dom Orlandi made nine saves Wednesday to lead the Wahconah boys lacrosse team to an 8-4 win over Mount Anthony.

“It wasn’t a very friendly game under the lights but I’m glad our guys kept their heads enough to pull out the win,” Wahconah coach Zach Sondrini said. “There are a lot of things to work on after a scrap like that. We’ve been preaching mental toughness all season and tonight we lost our composure at times. It felt like the beginning of the season all over again. But some of our veterans made the plays down the stretch to get the win.

“One guy who kept his composure all night was Dom Orlandi in goal. He kept our lead for us making some saves beyond what was expected from any goalie.”

Wahconah went up, 7-2, at half-time and held off the Patriots’ comeback bid in the second half.

Dart Jaggi scored twice, and Matt Mathers and Jeremy Girard each had a goal and two assists in the victory.

Wahconah (10-4) hosts Agawam on Friday.
