Jones' Six Goals Lift Mount Greylock into Sectional Final

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Carolyn Jones scored six goals, and the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team earned a 14-5 win over Hoosac Valley on Tuesday in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 2 semi-finals.
 
The second-seeded Mounties (17-4) advanced to the first sectional final in the program's history.
 
Mount Greylock will meet No. 1 Bromfield (16-6) on a day and in a place to be announced. Bromfield advanced on Tuesday with a 17-1 win over Chicopee Comp.
 
Jones added an assist for the Mounties, who got four goals and an assist from Emma Polumbo and a pair of goals from Caroline Flynn.
 
Autumn Delorey backstopped the Mounties to their 10th win in 11 games and third win over the Hurricanes this season.
 
Sixth-seeded Hoosac Valley (15-4) got a goal apiece from five different players: Alie Mendel, Claudia Bresett, Brooke DiGennaro, Cairagan Greene and Chloe Martel.
 
Mount Greylock's Polumbo scored three goals in a six-minute span at the end of the first half to help her team take a 9-2 lead into the break.
