Jones Scores Five to Lead Mount Greylock Girls Lax Past Wahconah

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Carolyn Jones scored five goals Tuesday to lead the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over Wahconah.
 
Emma Polumbo and Caroline Flynn each scored four times, and Clare Sheedy had a goal and three assists for the Mounties (3-2).
 
“Kristen Aliberti and Aleya Cappadona played really strong defense for the Mounties creating multiple caused turnovers,” Mount Greylock coach Lindsey von Holtz said. “Our goalies [Autumn Delorey and Jayden Johnson] had a big night with 10 saves between them.
 
“Caroline Flynn controlled the midfield, causing five turnovers and controlling the ground ball on four of them. She also had four draws.”
 
Mount Greylock scored six goals in the last 12 minutes of the first half to go up, 10-3, before Wahconah got one in the net to go to the break down by six.
 
Jillian Cote had a hat trick, and Hannah Ronayne and Olivia Hines each scored twice for Wahconah, which got five saves from Sydney Smith.
 
Wahconah (2-2) hosts Lee on Thursday.
 
Mount Greylock is at Manchester, Vt.’s, Burr & Burton Seminary on Thursday.
