EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- Jilly Cote scored seven goals, and the Wahconah girls lacrosse team outscored East Longmeadow, 8-4, in the second half to earn an 11-11 tie.

“A great comeback in the second half,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. :We started off a little slow which was expected. Early season is tough sometimes finding a rhythm. Second half we took better care of the ball and were more patient on offense.

“Our defense played well and Sydney [Smith] was solid in the net. Jilly created a lot of fantastic opportunities.”

Smith made eight saves in Wahconah’s goal.

Grace Calvert and Emily Figiela each scored twice.

Wahconah (1-1-1) goes to Springfield Central on Wednesday.
