WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Emma Polumbo and Sarah Stripp each scored six goals, and Sam MacWhinnie made 13 saves as the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team defeated West Springfield, 16-12, on Saturday.

Mount Greylock (4-0), also got four goals from Lucy Barrett and two assists from Kelsey Orpin.

"It was a close game that started out with a lot of back-and-forth goals to keep it tied up," Mount Greylock coach Lindsey von Holtz said. "[Polumbo's] three goals at the end of the first half helped separate the Mounties."

West Springfield scored three straight in a two-minute span to close within four goals late in the second half, but Mount Greylock maintained possession and kept the visitors off the board in the final four and a half minutes to secure the win.

Mount Greylock travels to face Chicopee on Monday.
