CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Sarah Stripp scored six goals Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team to an 18-12 win over Hoosac Valley.

Despite the final margin, Hoosac coach Molly Meczywor found much to be encouraged about.

“Our game goal was to score 10 goals and lessen the goal differential from the last game and we accomplished both,” she said, referring to Mount Greylock’s 16-9 win in Williamstown. “Right now, we're not at Mount Greylock's level, but it's where we eventually would like to be so playing them will only make us a better team.

“I am proud of our hard work and hustle throughout the game."

Allie Mendel scored five goals, and Claudia Bresset and Aubrey Rumbolt added four and three, respectively for the Hurricanes (4-3), who got 10 saves from Abi Disbrow.

Lauren Aliberti, Emma Polumbo and Caroline Flynn each scored two for Mount Greylock (11-0).

Mount Greylock goes to Bennington, Vt., to play Mount Anthony Union on Friday. Hoosac Valley goes to Wahconah on Tuesday.
