Jones Leads Mount Greylock Girls Lax in Narrow Road Win

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Carolyn Jones scored five goals, and the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team held off a late charge by South Hadley to earn a 13-11 win in Wednesday’s season opener.
 
The Mounties bounced back after an early 2-0 deficit to take a 7-4 lead at half-time, and the visitors were up, 13-8, with six minutes left before the Tigers scored three times.
 
Mount Greylock got a ground ball after a shot with 40 seconds left and maintained control to run out the clock.
 
Emma Stevens scored four goals. Clare Sheedy had a goal and two assists, and Zoe Armet, Brook Masse and Talia Cappadona each scored a goal in the win.
 
Jayden Johnson and Autumn Delorey combined to make six saves in the Mount Greylock goal.
 
The Mounties (1-0) host Lee next Wednesday.
