PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored five goals Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 9-5 win over Pittsfield.

 

Brooke DiGennaro had a hat trick, and Sara Tomkiewicz added a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes.

 

“We came out flat today and it showed in our ground balls, draws and offensive movement,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “The game ended early due to weather so I was glad we capitalized early on open shots.”

 

Sierra Murray had a hat trick, and Ava Sinopoli and Summer Jadallah each scored a goal for Pittsfield.

 

Anna Quinto stopped 13 shots for the Generals (2-5), who host Lee on Monday.

 

Hoosac Valley’s Abi Disbrow stopped two shots.

 

The Hurricanes (7-1) have a rematch at Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
