Newberry Leads Mount Greylock Softball in Opening Day Win

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Emma Newberry went 3-for-4 with a double Monday to lead the Mount Greylock softball team to a 12-6 win over Lee.
 
Jordyn Codding hit a two-run double in the fifth, and Kamryn Sweet tripled in two runs in the sixth for the Mounties (1-0).
 
Sweet also struck out 10 while walking five to earn the win in the circle.
 
Ari Hall, Olivia Keiderling and Chloe Armstrong each singled and scored in a three-run fourth-inning rally for the Wildcats.
 
Lee hosts Monument Mountain on Tuesday, when the Mounties head south to face Mount Everett.
