Pittsfield's Pierce Named County's Most Valuable Player
Pittsfield High pitcher Giulianna Pierce was named the Berkshire County League's most valuable player in a vote of the league's coaches.
The league announced its three all-county selections on Thursday, and the Generals, undefeated in regular season play and Western Mass champions, snagged four spots on the first team.
Joining league MVP Pierce were second baseman Natasha Shade, third baseman Brianna Clary, catcher Hayley Tobin and outfielder Britney Perkett.
Wahconah placed three players on the first team: catcher Jess Warren, pitcher Abby Wells and first baseman Julia O'Connor.
Two Hoosac Valley players were picked, third baseman Rylynn Witek and outfielder Syrah Bradley. And two came from Taconic: second baseman Aubrey Lazits and outfielder Taylor Ostrander.
Rounding out the all-Berkshire team is Mount Everett shortstop Gwendolyn Carpenter.
The coaches also named an all-Northern Division and all-Southern Division team.
Honored from the North were: Pittsfield's Sarah McMahon, Maddie Tobin and Tess Lyon; Drury's Anna Dix, McKenna Peavey and Abby Lear; Mount Greylock's Lily Lesieur and Kayla Cerveira; Taconic's Payton O'Connell and Jenyka Ostellino; and Wahconah's Morgan Marauszwski and Emma Parkington.
Honored from the South were: Hoosac Valley's Madison Puppolo, Rylie Bishop, Kate Bramen, Gabby Vincent, Logan Stansfield and Kelsey Wohrle; Lenox's Kacie Vallee and Anna Lynch; Mount Everett's Devan Galli and Jaclyn Derwitsch; Lee's Alyssa Heath; and Monument Mountain's Isabelle Whalen.
