Streaking Hornets Win Third Straight Game

LENOX, Mass. -- The McCann Tech softball team capped off its best week of the season with its third straight win, smacking 14 hits overall in a 14-3 road win over Lenox. 

Senior Erika Ziemba only had to throw four innings in order to pick up her fourth win of the season. The Hornets' starter allowed one earned run on two hits, striking out four without a walk in a game shortened to just six innings. Sophomore Eileen Zajac finished things up for McCann (4-12), fanning two and allowing one run over the final two frames. 

Robin Finnegan's squad led 3-1 entering the top of the fourth inning, when the hosts seized control of the game by piling on six more runs. Senior Maria Denault came up with a key triple in the fourth and led the Hornets' offense by going 4 for 4 with two runs scored. Sophomore Jordan Prevey also had a good day at the plate, batting 3 for 4 with two walks and two runs scored, while classmate Olivia Esoldi went 2 for 3 with two runs batted in. 

The Hornets will try to keep the ball rolling with a home game against Southwick at 4 p.m. on Monday.
