TURNERS FALLS, Mass. -- The Franklin Tech softball team cashed in on some middle-inning miscues to erase an early Mount Everett lead en route to a 6-1 win in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 quarter-finals on Monday.

Tonilynn Smith went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Emma Goewey and Makenzie Ullrich each had a hit for the 10th-seeded Eagles (6-9).

“I cannot say enough about what playing this year meant for these girls, and for our two seniors, Hailey Liebenow and Makenzie Ullrich, it was a tough day,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “I’m proud of what all these girls have accomplished this season and hopefully those returning next year continue to work and improve in the offseason.”
