WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Anthony softball team pounded out 19 hits, including three home runs, to hand Mount Greylock a 17-7 loss on Monday afternoon.

Taylor DiCranian went 3-for-5 with a home and two doubles and went the distance in the pitching circle for the Patriots (8-1).

Mount Anthony jumped on top early thanks to a two-run homer by Cat Worthington in the top of the first, but the Mounties answered in the bottom of the frame when Olivia DiNicola singled, went to third on an error and scored on Rachel Voller’s sac fly to center field.

The Pats scored two in the second to establish a three-run lead, but blew the game open with a five-run fourth that featured a DiCranian grand slam and a double by Jamie Boyle.

The Mounties (4-5) rallied for three in the fourth thanks to singles from Hailey Guest, Rachel Voller and Fiona Kelley, to make it 9-4.

And Mount Greylock drew even closer with another three-run rally in the fifth. This time, a Voller double, singles by Kelley and Carly Munzer and Marley Buffis’ sacrifice fly did the trick, leaving the Mounties down, 10-7, going to the sixth.

But Mount Anthony rallied for four in the sixth and three in the seventh to put the game away.

Mount Greylock goes to Lee on Tuesday.
