NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Maya Howland struck out six, and Caitlin Tatro drove in the winning run as the Drury softball team beat Mount Greylock, 2-1, on Thursday afternoon.

“It was a tight, well-played game on both sides, but Maya Howland pitched a strong game, getting six Ks and not allowing any walks leading her team to the win today,” Drury coach Morgan Shafer said.

The Mounties drew first blood in the top of the second when Carly Munzer doubled, and Taylor Cornell tripled to right center to make it a 1-0 game.

Drury answered in the bottom of the frame.

Howland singled, and her courtesy runner, Tahira Gardner, ended up scoring on a fielder’s choice to tie the game.

In the bottom of the third, Cassandra Crosier tripled and scored on Tatro’s RBI single.

Howland scattered seven hits to get the win.

Fiona Kelley also allowed seven hits and struck out two for the Mounties (4-5), who go to Mohawk Trail on Saturday.

Drury (2-8) hosts Vermont’s Mount Anthony Union on Saturday.
