It was a good week to be a Drury High School basketball fan.

And this week's iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week were a big reason the Blue Devils went 4-1 on the hardwood.

Sophomore Scott McGuire Jr. started the week with a monster game against Lee, scoring 19 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and passing out five assists.

But the main event came Thursday, when he had another double-double with 18 points and 11 boards in a win over rival Hoosac Valley.

For the season, he leads Drury in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17 points and nine rebounds per game as the Blue Devils stand 9-3 going into Tuesday's rematch with the Wildcats in Lee.

Wins have been harder to come by for the Drury girls -- at least to start the season.

More recently, they have gone 3-2 to improve their record to 4-9.

This week, Drury went 2-1, knocking off both Berkshire County foes it faced.

On Tuesday, junior Brooke DiGennaro scored 33 points in a 12-point win over Lenox. She finished the week with a 15-point effort in a win over Lee.

This winter, she is averaging a little more than 13 points and two assists per game.

Drury will look for its first two-game winning streak of the season on Tuesday when it hosts Taconic.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Bedard Bros. Auto of Cheshire.
