PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Deonte Sandifer led Taconic to a 91-58 win over Drury High School, scoring 19 points Wednesday night.

Treyvon Ringgold added 14, Izaiya Mestre and Matt Stracuzzi had 11.

It was a happy senior class farewell as Taconic (17-3) got off to a strong start against the Blue Devils and never looked back. Taconic proved to be too much to handle Wednesday as it dominated the glass as well as shot the 3-pointer very well.

“David McIntosh did a great job on the boards for us today, and we made some shots on the perimeter and got into a rhythm, we played well.” coach Bill Heaphy said.

For Drury (11-9), Reece Racette had 19 points and Connor Meehan scored 10.

This ends a four-game win streak for the Blue Devils as they head into tournament play.

It was all Taconic from the start as it put up 21 points in the first quarter and eventually cruised to a 45-26 lead at the break. The hosts hit 10 3-pointers as a team and were able to keep plays alive with offensive rebounding. They were able to handle the Drury press and turn that into fast break points. After coming off a loss to Mount Greylock, this is exactly what Taconic needed heading into post season play.

“We were real disappointed in our lack of effort up at Mount Greylock,” Heaphy said. “That was concerning so we knew we had to turn things around. Now moving forward we need to keep sharpening what we need to sharpen and keep our eye on the prize.”

This marks the last game of the season for both teams and they will wait and see where they are seeded for the tournament. The seedings are announced on Saturday in Springfield.
