NORTH ADAMS, Mass — One game after picking up its first win of the season, the Hoosac Valley boys' basketball team was caught off guard against one of the top teams in Berkshire County on Saturday.

Lenox, the defending Division 3 Western Mass. champs, showed they're a team to be reckoned with again this season, scoring 24 points in the first quarter alone on its way to a 61-37 win over the Hurricanes in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament held at MCLA. The Millionaires (6-1) jumped out to a 9-3 lead to start the game and closed closed out the first quarter on a 7-0 run to open a 13-point lead. Led by Chris Bravo's game-high 29 points, Lenox kept the pressure on in the second quarter, earning a 40-21 lead at the half.

Despite three 3-pointers and 13 points from sophomore guard Matt Braman, the Hoosac offense never really got on track. The Hurricanes (1-7) only managed eight points a quarter in the second half, and finished with their second lowest point total of the season so far. Chris Considine was the only other player in double figures, netting 10 points for the Millionaires.

Hoosac will try to rebound in its next outing, a 7:30 p.m. home game against St. Joe's on Tuesday.
