DALTON, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley boys basketball team defeated Wahconah Friday evening, 55-45, at Wahconah High School.

Wahconah, who trailed, 26-21, at half-time came back in the third quarter after senior Collin Parrott put up 13 points. Wahconah took the lead at the end of the quarter when Parrot hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to put the score at 39-37.

In the fourth quarter, Hoosac was able to take back the lead; creating defensive turnovers and pressuring Wahconah to put the ball up fast. On Wahconah's defensive end, it gave up rebounds, giving Hoosac extra possessions.

"We did a good job tonight defending and forcing them to shoot," Hoosac coach Bill Robinson said. "That's what we wanted to do and we hit the boards real hard and executed when we had to."

Both teams found themselves in foul trouble in the fourth quarter; unfortunately for Wahconah, it wasn't finishing at the line, allowing Hoosac to hold the lead through the final buzzer.

Parrott finished the game with 20 points for Wahconah. For Hoosac, Matt Koperniak had 15 points, Jameson Coughlin had 13, and Nate Tonikiewicz finished with 11.

Hoosac hosts Mount Greylock Monday evening, and Wahconah hosts Sabis.
