One goes to Wahconah and represents Taconic; the other goes to Hoosac Valley and reps Wahconah.

But no matter what uniform they wear, Tanner Hastings and Ellie Field have one thing in common: Each is a 2018 Western Massachusetts champion.

And both are this week's iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week.

Hastings, a Wahconah senior (and Oct. 23 AOTW for his school's football team), dominated the 182-pound weight class at this weekend's Western Mass Division 3 Wrestling Championships at his "home" school, Taconic High.

Wrestling for the cooperative team, Hastings got his weekend off to a quick start by pinning his opponent in just 25 seconds in the round of 16 on Friday.

He then went the distance but nevertheless earned a 14-5 major decision over Monument Mountain's Logan Mead. In the semis, Hastings pinned Liam Feeley, a Hoosac Valley student who wrestles for one of the county's other coops, Mount Greylock.

Then Hastings capped his weekend by running his career record to 123-23 with a 2 minute, 41 second pin in the title bout to help Taconic win the team championship.

On Sunday, Field extended her legacy of swimming excellence by winning the 50-yard freestyle at the Central/Western Mass Championships at Springfield College in a time of 24.84 seconds.

Field also took second in the 100, finishing in 53.92. The Hurricane will carry the Wahconah coop's colors into battle on Saturday at the state meet at Boston Univeristy.
