SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- A dozen seniors from Berkshire County have been selected the 2018 Western Massachusetts Senior High School All-Star Games at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Sixty players from throughout the section were named to the six teams who will compete in a triple-header at the Jerry Colangelo Court of Dreams on Friday, March 23.

“The Basketball Hall of Fame is proud to celebrate the game conceived in Springfield and played around the globe. Our region is home to a number of stellar basketball players and we’re pleased to recognize them annually at the Western Massachusetts Senior All-Star Games,” Hall of Fame President and CEO John L. Doleva said in a news release announcing the teams. “The people of Western Mass will be cheering these outstanding student-athletes on as they transition to the next level of basketball and academics upon graduation.”

The county will be best represented in the night's second game, which will feature 20 of the best graduating senior girls in Western Mass.

One of the two girls teams will feature six players from the county: Hoosac Valley's Skylar Case, Lenox's Alice Najimy, Mount Greylock's Lauren Howard, Pittsfield's Bella Aitken, Taconic's Ahsley Rufo and Wahconah's Julia O'Connor.

In the evening's first game, the county's rooting interest will be split in the D3/D4 boys game as Mount Everett's Cavan Brady plays on one team and the other squad includes McCann Tech's Logan Tower and Mount Greylock's Sam Dils and Sean McCormack.

In the nightcap, a battle of boys from Divisions 1 and 2, Taconic's Javier Osorio and Pittsfield's Edwin Rodriguez are scheduled to wear the same colors.

A committee made up of local coaches and media members that represent each division on the boys and girls side selected the teams.

For the eighth year, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will recognize one boy and one girl as the Western Massachusetts Players of the Year. A special presentation will be made to the recipients during halftime. A panel of local media members selects the award winners, who are recognized for their achievements on the court, in addition to their sportsmanship and character off the court.

Tickets for the All-Star game will be available at the Hall of Fame box office the night of the games and will be good for all three games that evening (Adults: $10, Students: $5).
