Quick Start Propels Monument Boys Past Hoosac Valley

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The Monument Mountain boys basketball team drained 10 of 19 3-pointers in the first half for a 26-point lead on the way to a 77-41 win over Hoosac Valley on Thursday in the season opener for both teams.
 
Caden Gidarakos hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points, and Dion Brown scored 15.
 
The Spartans were up, 59-23, at half-time.
 
“Great job by our guys coming ready to play tonight,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “I was really proud of them.”
 
Nicholas Robbins scored nine points in the win.
 
Shaun Kastner led Hoosac Valley with 13 points. Izaha Stubbs scored 11 for the Hurricanes, who play Pioneer on Saturday at Curry Hicks Cage in Amherst.
 
Monument Mountain goes to Wahconah on Monday.
