SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Wahconah boys and Hoosac Valley girls basketball teams will take the floor at Springfield College's Blake Arena in January's Spalding Hoophall Classic.

The sponsor Tuesday announced the schedule for the five day event over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Wahconah will participate on Day 1, taking on defending Western Massachusetts Division 4 Champion Hopkins Academy at 4 p.m., the first of four boys games involving Western Mass schools that night.

On Friday, the Western Mass girls take the floor, and the Hurricanes will be featured in Game 3 of a five-game ticket. Hoosac Valley, a five-time defending Western Mass champion, will face 2017 Division 2 Western Mass semi-finalist Longmeadow at 6 p.m.

Most of the rest of the evening is given over to regional and national boys basketball powers like DeMatha Catholic of Maryland on Sunday afternoon and Oak Hill Academy of Virginia on Monday afternoon.

In all, basketball fans will be treated to 31 games over the course of five days at the 17th annual event.
