LEE, Mass. -- Karli Retzel scored 14 points Friday to lead the Lee girls basketball team to a 39-31 win over Taconic.

“It was definitely a defensive game,” Lee coach Rick Puleri said. “Things got pretty ugly at times. Taconic fought hard to cut our lead to one, and then Shannon Finnegan scored and Karli Retzel hit a 3 to put us up six with about 1:30 to go.”

Maddy Quinto scored 10 to lead Taconic, which got eight points from Ashley Rufo.

Kendra Williams scored seven, and Finnegan and Mikayla DeSantis chipped in with six apiece for Lee.

The Wildcats (7-1) are home against Drury on Tuesday and Mount Everett on Friday.

Taconic (3-3) hosts Belchertown on Monday.
