NORTH ADAMS, Mass — The McCann Tech girls' basketball team continued its recent trend of strong play with a 53-46 home win over Mount Everett on Thursday night. It was the third victory in a row for the Hornets, who avenged a 40-35 road loss to the Eagles in the third game of the year.

Kristen Lewis' squad took control of the game with a quick start in the first quarter, outscoring the visitors 19-12 in the frame. Everett came back to make it a four-point game at halftime, but McCann (7-10) went on a 13-8 run in the third quarter to go up by nine points heading into the fourth. The Hornets had a balanced scoring night, led by senior guard Ashley Alibozek's team-high 17 points and six rebounds. Fellow senior Brittany Briggs also chipped in with 13 points, while classmate Cassie Field added nine points and seven boards.

Deseraye Conaway led the Eagles' attack with a game-high 18 points, while teammate Tara Sullivan was right behind her with 17.

McCann will try to clinch a spot in the Division 3 Western Mass. tournament with a win at Southwick tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. If the Hornets can take down the Rams, they will finish tied for second place in the Bi-County West Division.
