Mount Everett Girls Roll in Season Opener

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. -- Gwendolyn Carpenter and Kelsey Netzer each scored in double figures Thursday night to lead the Mount Everett girls basketball team to a 56-26 win over Smith Vocational in the Franklin Tech Tournament.
 
The Eagles (1-0) jumped out to a 38-8 half-time lead and held that margin throughout a low-scoring second half.
 
Carpenter scored a game-high 18, and Netzer added 11. Chelsea Hill scored nine as nine different Eagles got into the scorebook.
 
Mount Everett takes on host Franklin Tech on Friday night in the tournament title game.
