Mount Everett Girls Advance to Face Turners Falls

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Gwendolyn Carpenter scored 18 points, and the Mount Everett girls basketball team held Gateway to five first-half points in a 55-19 win over the Gators Monday in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 tournament.
 
Marion Devoti scored 10, and Tori Seward added six in a balanced attack for the fifth-seeded Eagles (12-9).
 
Mount Everett advances to Thursday’s sectional quarter-final at No. 4 Turners Falls (13-8), a 56-24 winner over Pathfinder on Monday night.
