PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Taconic girls' basketball team got off to a strong start against Ludlow on Tuesday night, opening a 14-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately for the Braves, they only scored 14 more points over the final three quarters on their way to a 51-28 loss at home.

The Lions (1-3) held Matt Mickle's squad to just three points each in both the second and third quarters, turning that 10-point deficit into a 12-point lead heading into the final frame. The third quarter proved to be the difference in the game, as Ludlow went on an 18-3 run after halftime.

Alyssa Guyon netted a game-high 15 points for the visitors, while teammate Ava Adamopoulos was close behind with 14 points. Taconic (0-2) was led by junior guard Angela O'Neil, who drained three shots from long distance on her way to a team-high 13 points.

The Braves return to action on Friday with a game against Palmer in the Hoosac Valley Holiday Tourney. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
