PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Fallon Field scored 32 points, and the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team held off a late Pittsfield rally to earn a 65-58 win on Friday night.

Peyton Steinman scored 14 with four assists, and Taea Bramer and Bella Aitken added 11 and 10, respectively, for the Generals, who outscored the Hurricanes, 24-16, in the fourth quarter.

Hoosac Valley was up by 18 when Field and Kailynne Frederick each picked up their fourth fouls, Hoosac coach Ron Wojcik said. He decided to sit both his starters, and Pittsfield was able to take advantage.

“They got it down to eight or 10, and I brought them back, but by then Pittsfield had the momentum, and they got it down to four [points],” Wojcik said. “We finished the game out, which was nice. But give credit to Pittsfield High. With a big deficit, they could have folded.”

Lexi Mercier scored 12 points, and Field went 9-for-10 at the line in the fourth quarter for the Hurricanes.

Hoosac Valley (7-1) hosts Wahconah on Tuesday, when Pittsfield (5-6) goes to Monument Mountain.
