ADAMS, Mass — Another strong start led to another blowout win for the Hoosac Valley girls' basketball team on Tuesday night.

After jumping out to a 22-6 lead on Putnam after the first quarter on Thursday, the Hurricanes were a point better against Sci-Tech, opening a 22-5 advantage after one quarter on their way to 71-33 win at Adams Memorial School.

"We played a great first half and led 38-9 at the break," Hoosac head coach Ron Wojcik said. "We forced many turnovers with our pressure. That took the pressure off in the second half, and we were able to get everyone some minutes."

Freshman Emily Rosse had another strong game for the hosts, scoring a game-high 14 points to go along with eight rebounds and two assists. The first-year forward is averaging 14.5 points a game so far this season and looks fully capable of pulling down a double-double on any given night. 'Canes sophomore Jenn Gale also chipped in by nailing a pair of 3-pointers on her way to scoring 12 points.

The CyberCats, who trailed 61-17 before erupting for 16 points in the fourth quarter, received nine points each from Noelani Gabriel and Brandi Bass.

Hoosac next hosts Mount Everett at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
