A major part of the success of the Pittsfield girls' basketball team the past two seasons, senior captain Courtney McLaughlin has set her sights set even higher in her final year playing for the Generals. She started the season off strong last week in Pittsfield's 63-23 win over Amherst, getting her team off to a fast start by hitting a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter. McLaughlin finished with a game-high 15 points and four assists in the blowout win.

"Courtney is very versatile," Generals head coach Joe Racicot said. "She can play any position from 1-5 and is a great mismatch at the No. 5 spot."

The Pittsfield standout continued her strong play in a loss to Longmeadow on Tuesday, putting together a solid all-around game with a game-high 16 points with five rebounds and three assists.

"Courtney's been working since her sophomore year to be a leader," Racicot said. "She has earned that leadership by her work ethic in the offseason. Each practice, she challenges her teammates to achieve their potential and reach the goals that the team has set for this season."
