PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- After a pair of disappointing losses, the Pittsfield girls' basketball team came back strong on Thursday, jumping out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter on its way to a 55-30 home win over Hampshire.

The Generals (8-4) regained their shooting touch, knocking down eight 3-pointers in the game. Junior Dominique Satrape drained three shots from downtown on her way to a 13-point night. Senior captain Courtney McLaughlin led all scorers with 14 points for Pittsfield.

"We secured a comfortable lead, jumping out to a 29-12 score at halftime," Generals head coach Joe Racicot said. "The key to our success tonight was ball control and running the floor without error."

Poor finishes hurt Pittsfield in losses to Monument Mountain and Lee last week, but a dominating effort in the first three quarters  took a fourth-quarter slump out of the equation. The Generals' offense was hot from the start, jumping out to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter. The hosts' defense then took over in the second quarter, limiting the Red Raiders to only four points in the period. Hampshire didn't really get much going in the third quarter either, scoring just six points as Pittsfield stretch its lead to 44-18.

The Generals next play at Mount Greylock at 7 p.m. on Monday.
