PITTSFIELD, Mass. — In case there was any doubt whether or not Pittsfield would earn a bid to the postseason during its game against Mount Greylock, Courtney McLaughlin put that to rest.

With 10 of her game-high 27 points scored in the fourth quarter and an outstanding effort on defense, McLaughlin spurred the Generals to a 59-37 win over the visiting Mounties.

The win, Pittsfield's fifth consecutive and ninth in its last 10 games, secures a bid in the Western Massachusetts Division I playoffs next month, with seven games still to play.

Nursing a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter, the Generals (10-3)  intensified their zone pressure in the final eight minutes, leading to transition buckets.

Lucy Barrett
(17 points) and the Mounties (4-8) kept the game close in the early going, trailing by four points at halftime, but could not overcome Pittsfield’s depth.

Jill Ritrosky
had her seventh double-double of the season, with 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Megan Face chipped in 11 points for the Generals.

Pittsfield host Hoosac Valley on Tuesday at 7pm. Mt. Greylock will attempt to get back on the winning track on when it plays Monument Mountain at 7pm on Thursday in Williamstown.
