DALTON, Mass. -- The Wahconah girls' basketball team was cruising right along, winners of four straight games until a tough stretch of free-throw shooting doomed the Warriors to a 45-41 home loss to Lenox on Thursday.

Wahconah (7-7) made only 8 of 16 shots it attempted from the foul line in the fourth quarter on Thursday, allowing the Millionaires (8-6) to snap their four-game losing streak. Hayden Zinchuk came up huge for the visitors, leading the way with a a game-high 23 points. Forward Liz Mitts added 11 points for Lenox, while Jaclyn Gigliotti chipped in with eight.

"This was a close game throughout," Warriors head coach June Blake said. "We were held without a field goal in the fourth quarter, but we still had opportunities from the foul line. You have to make your free throws against tough teams in close games. We also gave Lenox too many second-chance opportunities that they capitalized on."

The Millionaires led by three points after the first quarter, by just one point at halftime and by two points heading into the fourth. Senior guard Gabby Lavinio sank a pair of 3-pointers on her way to a 16-point, three-assist night for Wahconah. Classmate Shannon Lussier also had a solid outing with 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Warriors return to action on Thursday with a home game against North Division rival Drury at 7:30 p.m.
