Freshman Alward Scores 14 for Lenox Girls in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Alice Najimy scored 11 points in the first quarter to stake the Lenox girls basketball team to an 11-8 lead in Friday’s opener, and the Millionaires went on to a 62-43 win over Sci-Tech.
 
Freshman Jade Alward came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter on her way way to a 14-point night to lead Lenox.
 
Jackie Hathaway scored 12 points with eight assists, and Najimy and Nicole Gamberoni scored 11 points apiece.
 
Gamberoni had eight steals and five assists.
 
Lenox (1-0) hosts Pope Francis on Wednesday.
