SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Mount Everett made the game interesting, but a strong scoring effort from sophomore guard Lucy Barrett proved to be enough to lift the Mount Greylock girls' basketball team to a 45-38 road win over the Eagles on Friday.

Barrett netted a game-high 20 points and added eight rebounds for the Mounties, who took control of the game with a 16-point outburst in the third quarter. The Mounties (2-3) led by five points at the half, but their big third quarter gave them a 13-point edge heading into the fourth. Despite a strong finish by Everett, Greylock was able to pull out its second straight win of the season.

"Everett is a quick team, and they gave us all we could handle," Mounties head coach Paul Barrett said. "They battled to the end and finished with a flurry, but Lucy and Ari Walden went 4 for 4 from the [foul] line to seal the game."

Walden had a good overall game, finishing with eight points, four boards and four assists. Barrett also gave credit to forwards Mackenzie Flynn and Margot Besnard, who were strong on the glass with 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Deseraye Conaway paced the Eagles' offense with a team-high 14 points.

Greylock is back in action again on Wednesday, hosting McCann Tech at 7 p.m.
