DALTON, Mass. -- Wahconah's Gianna Moncecchi and Hoosac Valley's Matthew Provost led their respective teams to victory in dual meet action at Wahconah Regional High School on Wednesday.

 

In the girls meet, Moncecchi won the 400 meter hurdles (1 minute, 11.76 seconds) and the long jump (15 feet, 6 inches) as Wahconah won, 100-41.

 

In the boys meet, Provost won the 100 hurdles (:18.37), discus (126-8) and javelin (130-4) to pace the Hurricanes.

 

In both meets, the winning team used a big advantage in the field events.

 

On the girls side, Moncecchi led a sweep of the top three spots in the long jump by Wahconah, which also took first in the triple jump (Maddie Sprague) and the high jump (Lily Pudlo). Wahconah also took the top three spots in all three throws.

 

In the boys meet, Hoosac Valley swept the podium in the discus and finished first in all six disciplines. Dante Sandifer was a double winner, taking the long jump (20-5.5) and the triple jump (40-1).
