LEE, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley girls' soccer team hasn't had the numbers to be successful this season. Playing with one or two subs for the majority of the year should have put the Hurricanes at a disadvantage. The players Blair Mahar had to put on the field gave him quite the edge, however, and Hoosac proved it could do a lot with a little all season long.

The 'Canes continued to plug along on Friday, knocking off Lee 3-0 on the road to seal a berth in the Division 2 Western Mass. tournament. Hoosac improved his overall record to 6-2-4 by taking control of the game early in the second half.

Sophomore Megan Rodowicz and senior Elizabeth Provost scored a pair of goals within a minute of each other eight minutes after halftime. Freshman McKenzie Robinson also found the back of the net in the 66th minute for the Hurricanes, who helped freshman goalie Megan Richardson (four saves) earn her fifth shutout of the season.

Cam Biasin and Sara Middleton combined to make 14 stops for the Wildcats. Hoosac next hosts Mount Greylock in a key South Division matchup at 6 p.m. on Monday night. The game will be held at Renfrew Field in Adams.
