LEE, Mass. -- Some goals are just bigger than others.

When it comes to the Mount Greylock girls' soccer team's hopes of winning the South Division title this season, there's no bigger goal than the one scored by senior Annie Flynn on Tuesday. With her team facing the possibility of a tie with Lee, Flynn knocked in a pass from sophomore Sophie Leamon with just under 11 minutes to play to give the Mounties a crucial 2-1 win in one of their final remaining division games.

Greylock, which trails Hoosac Valley by a point in the South Division standings, couldn't afford a draw against the Wildcats. With the victory, Tom Ostheimer's club improves to 9-5-2 and 6-1-2 in the South. To win a piece of the division title, the Mounties will need to beat St. Joe's at home on Friday and hope Drury can either tie or defeat the Hurricanes on the same day.

Greylock dug itself an early hole in Tuesday's game, giving up a goal to the Wildcats' Megan Gaul in the 32nd minute of play. Leamon tied the game, however, with her fifth goal of the season five minutes later to even up things at halftime.

Junior goalkeeper Margot Besnard and the rest of the Mounties' defense did the rest from there, shutting out the Lee offense in the second half. Besnard finished with 12 saves on the day, while Sara Middleton and Cam Biasin combined to make 10 stops in net for the Wildcats (4-10-2).

Greylock hosts the Crusaders at 4 p.m. on Friday before closing out the regular season with another home game against Wahconah on Tuesday.
