Pittsfield Firefighters Union Distributes Coats for Operation Warm

Pittsfield's Operation Warm: More Than A Coat was a partnership between Pittsfield Fire Fighters Local 2647, the Boys and Girls Club and the Pittsfield Family YMCA. "We were chosen this year as one of the organizations to receive [the coats]," said Rob Leary, president of Local 2647. "It kind of rotates throughout the state as to what area is to get them and they picked Pittsfield to get this year."

Pittsfield, North Adams Firefighter Unions Raises $7K For Muscular Dystrophy

The firefighters union raised more than $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the annual Fill the Boot drive. Some 25 members of the International Association of Firefighters Local 2647 spent four hours last Saturday asking for change from people exiting Dunkin Donuts or the Donut Man in Pittsfield to raise the money. The effort is an annual drive to support IAFF's charity of choice.

Adams Firefighters Donate to Louison House

The Fire Department raised and donated $900 to the Louison House. The Fire Department held a spaghetti dinner at Bounti-Fare to raise money for the nonprofit family shelter that suffered water and fire damage at its Adams building several months ago.

Unistress Volunteers Build Shelter For Dogs At Sonsini Shelter

There are some cool dogs at the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter thanks to local businesses. Some 30 Unistress employees were at the volunteer-run shelter building a shelter for the dogs to protect them from the elements. The project allows the dogs to be outside without overheating from the sun which beats down onto the kennels.
