Local skiers may get their chance to do a little skiing this weekend. Jiminy Peak was the first Berkshire ski area to open but Bousquet Ski Area in Pittsfield has been busy making snow for the past 48 hours and is anticipating opening for the season on Saturday.
Bousquet owner George Jervas said the there's a 3-foot base of man-made snow mixed with some natural snow that fell overnight.
Jervas said both chairlifts would be open this weekend and for the first time in 70-years, there will be no towropes.
He said that something called a "magic carpet" would replace the towropes. Jervas described the new feature as similar to a moving sidewalk.
