"Voices of the Mountains" the Green Mountains/Northern Berkshire Toastmasters chapter recently elected officers for the fiscal year July 1, 2004 - June 30, 2005. Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality.

The officers are:

President - Steve Love
Vice President, Public Relations- Ron Gallagher
Vice President, Membership- Dave Gorson
Secretary/Treasurer - Laura Nesbit
Club Mentors - Will Ryan, Marilyn Jess

The stated goals of the elected officials are to promote the new chapter expanding the number of participants in the Southern Vermont/Northern Berkshire area; to infuse each meeting with positive energy by bringing enthusiastic new ideas to the chapter; and to develop new leaders.

Jim Clemmer, a bestselling author and internationally acclaimed keynote speaker said, "Leadership and communications are inseparable. Our ability to energize, inspire, and arouse people to ever higher levels of performance is directly related to our ability to communicate. Strong leaders are strong communicators."

Berkshire County has two established Toastmasters Clubs in Pittsfield and Great Barrington. The Green Mountain/Northern Berkshire chapter was recently formed to meet the needs of area residents.

The Williamstown based club will meet on Thursday, September 2, 2004 from 6:30-7:45 pm in the Rogers Room (4th floor) of Hopkins Hall (the administration building across from Spring Street) on the Williams College campus. Visitors interested in improving their speaking and leadership abilities are always welcome to attend.

"Voices of the Mountains" once chartered will be in District 53 which consists of six Divisions in Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Eastern New York State and has more than 2,000 toastmasters organized into 117 clubs. Toastmasters International is an 80-year-old organization with more than 200,000 members in over 10,000 clubs in 80 countries.
