Planning Your Perfect Honeymoon

Your honeymoon is the symbolic start of your life as a married couple, a chance to relax and enjoy each other after the stress of “the big day.” A little planning will help ensure that your honeymoon is a trip to remember. Here are some great topics to talk through with your future husband or wife when making these important travel arrangements:

Travel Agent or Flying Solo

Decide earlier on if you would like to plan the trip on your own or if you would prefer to have some help. Keep in mind when making this decision, that a minor fee will be involved to hire a travel agent but that planning the honeymoon is just one little piece of all the planning that needs to happen for the wedding. You may wish to leave it to the travel experts so that you can focus on other details.

Breaking the Bank or Penny Pinching

Money can often be a difficult issue when making honeymoon plans but it is very important to discuss the budget with your spouse-to-be before planning begins. You both need to be clear on what you are able to afford so that neither one feels overwhelmed by the cost and that both of you can simply enjoy the travel experience without worrying about looming credit card debt upon return.

City Slicker or Beach Bum

Discuss with your spouse-to-be what type of vacation you would prefer. Some enjoy quiet days soaking up sun on the beach while others would rather sightsee and visit attractions. If you are looking for a honeymoon with a mix of both, Paris, the City of Lights, is the perfect choice. When staying in Paris, look for a hotel which offers relaxation, yet is close to all the tourist attractions such as the Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris, one of the most luxurious and architecturally noteworthy hotels in the city. It’s a short walk from the Champs Elysées and Arc de Triomphe and home to the Mosaïc Spa Decléor & Carita, where you can indulge in massages or other spa treatments to rejuvenate and relax.

Last Minute Details

Once you’ve finalized your honeymoon arrangements, here are a few little details to keep in mind that will ensure your honeymoon is stress-free and enjoyable:

* Make copies of valuable documents including driver’s license, passport, credit cards and traveler’s checks. Keep a photocopy of these documents in your suitcase and stash another set of copies at home.

* Make a list in advance of items to pack so you have less of a chance of forgetting things you may need.

* Notify your local post office to suspend mail delivery while you are out of town.

* Provide relatives with contact information and itinerary in case of an emergency.

Choosing the right honeymoon destination and knowing you’ve taken care of all the last minute little details will give you the honeymoon you’ve always dreamed of. So, relax and enjoy yourself. And remember, your honeymoon isn’t a place; it’s a state of mind and the beginning of a wonderful lifetime together.
