Songwriter/Guitarist to Appear at Adams Free Library
ADAMS, Mass. — Songwriter/guitarist Jay Mankita will appear at the Adams Free Library on Thursday, Aug. 5, presenting the "Lean Green Cleanup Machine," a free concert for children and their families about the four ‘R’s – Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Renewing – and living sustainably. The show begins at 6 p.m., followed by a short presentation about Mankita’s veggie oil-powered van.An adult must accompany children 8 years old and younger.
An award winning songwriter, Mankita has seen his music travel around the world – most recently on the international label, Putumayo, with his song "Eat like a Rainbow" traveling to more than 100 countries on their new release, "Picnic Playground." Mankita combines humorous and serious material, addressing topical issues in an entertaining way. A masterful guitar player, he blends traditional acoustic blues, ragtime, and swing styles with a quirky, original feel, and loves to get kids and families up and dancing.
Mankita is as well known for his music for children, as he is for his adult performances. He is currently touring his show in 100 towns throughout the Northeast, as well as traveling as far as Vancouver to be featured in the May 2010 International Children’s Festival.
