Houghton Community Garden To Hold Potluck Picnic

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Houghton Community Garden will host a community potluck picnic at the Houghton Garden site on Saturday, July 31 from noon to 3 p.m. This is a free event where members of the community are invited to bring a dish, meet their neighbors and visit the garden.

Houghton Garden was created with the idea of a place where neighbors could meet and create community by growing flowers, and vegetables in a cooperative manner. What started as a vacant lot has now been filled in with splashes of perennials, annuals and vegetables from the participation of community members.

The upcoming potluck picnic is a celebration of the garden’s second year, and all the hard work that multiple community members and organizations have contributed to help the garden grow. The Houghton Gardeners will provide veggie burgers, burgers, and hot dogs, and ask that guests bring a side dish to share.

Houghton Community Garden potluck picnic is a free event. The garden is located on the corner of Houghton and Parker streets. Parking is available on the Parker Street side of the lot. For more information, visit houghtongarden.wordpress.com/ or call 413-662-2183.
